Tender for Reducing Child Poverty – Initial Market Warming event

This event highlights key findings from research across the 14 authorities of the region which explored the involvement of children and young people in workforce development and identified examples of best practice. The event is open to anyone working with childen and young people in the region with an interest in this area of work.
Thanks to the support and enthusiasm of network members and partners G:up submitted an application to the Big Lotteries Fund for the BASIS2 round. The funding is for a regional initiative with workstreams to be delivered through network members.

Following the unsuccesful G:up bid to support the exciting "Risk It" play initiative, a number of people have asked for further detail from the rather unsatifactory BLF letter. The two page scanned letter is attached in two files.
A Report called Social Enterprise and the Public Sector - a practical guide to law and policy has ben written by Anthony Collins Solicitors. It has useful information about the scope available to the Public Sector in relation to Commissioning procedures and processes, including the Third Sector. The final planning meeting for the Basis2 bid for infrastructure support services working with children and young people will be held on Thursday 14th August at bayc starting at 10.30.
The notes of the previous meeting are attached. In the interim, Cal and Helen have been working on the frameork for the bid, and a draft will be circulated to those involved for comment by 15th August.
A scoping meeting convened by Brap was held on 30th July to consider whether people thought it was a good idea to have a new network focusing specifically on voluntary and community sector equalities issues. There was broad agreement that it was worth developing providing it did not replicate or compete with existing networks.

The Big Event in May laid the foundations for G:up development in the region over the next three years; with a successful track record, new funding bids in the pipeline and a vibrant alliance of groups and networks to take things forwards, September’s event will focus on collaboration, inclusion and involvement – from neighbourhood to regional level.
