IN ORDER TO RAISE BME EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT THE CONFERENCE WILL

Bring together the partners and stakeholders

Debate the policy issues and discuss the challenges

Examine successful initiatives and stimulate innovative approaches

THE CONFERENCE IS FOR:

Teachers, school senior managers and headteachers

School governors

Directors of Childrens Services and school improvement managers

Supplementary schools and community organisations

Race Equality Councils and organisations

Teacher unions

Ethnic minority achievement professionals from schools, local authorities and central government

WORKSHOPS:

THE ROLE OF BME PARENTS/CARERS

This workshop will explore ways in which BME parents/carers successfully work with their childrens

schools and the positive effects this has had on their childrens educational progress.

STIMULATING ACHIEVEMENT AND ATTAINMENT

This workshop investigates what works to stimulate the achievement and attainment of the BME children

and young people and what can hold them back.

COLLABORATIVE WORKING BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROJECTS

This workshop provides examples of good practice and partnership working which have contributed

to higher academic achievement and improved relations between schools and BME families.
