Helen Kara of 'We Research It' has been appointed to cary out an evaluation of Growing Up in the West Midlands. This section of the site will be used to support and develop that area of work, which is overseen by the Management Group.
If you would like more information, the evaluation brief can be found here. And Helen's expression of interest is available here.
The evaluation will focus on two areas - the delivery of the project outcomes, and the process of our work/development of our partnership.
Regional Youth Work (under discussion)
Delivery plans for sustainable funding and workforce development are yet to be developed
The overall evaluation of G:up, being carried out on our behalf by Helen Kara of We Research It Ltd, is intended to capture and disseminate as much of the learning as possible from all the work of G:up. It will therefore include an individual evaluation of the work of each delivery group. This has four elements:
1. Analysis of monitoring information.
2. Analysis of documents.
3. A written self-evaluation in response to specific questions.
4. A telephone interview with a representative of each delivery group.
Every organisation in contact with your delivery group needs to be monitored. This will be done through the information required on the ChangeUp monitoring forms, to avoid duplication of work.
Also, every individual in contact with your work since 1st September 2005 needs to be monitored. We have tried to make this process as simple as possible while aiming to capture the necessary information. It will be done using the form attached (one form per individual). In many cases this will need to be done by delivery group members, and may involve some retrospective work. In some cases the individuals themselves will be able to complete the forms. Please ensure that all forms are completed and sent to Helen Kara at We Research It Ltd, The Office, St Mary's Crescent, Uttoxeter, Staffs ST14 7BH within two weeks of the group finishing its work. As the forms are anonymous, when you send them to Helen please identify your delivery group. Forms may be sent in batches, beginning sooner, if that is easier for you. Also, retrospective monitoring information may be aggregated and/or emailed to helen@weresearchit.co.uk.
The documents required for the evaluation are the outputs of your group, whether in the form of research reports, strategies or plans. Copies of these should be emailed to Helen Kara at helen@weresearchit.co.uk when they are complete.
When your work is complete, we would like you to evaluate it against a set of questions (attached). Please write your answers and email them to Helen Kara at helen@weresearchit.co.uk within two weeks of the group finishing its work.
Please nominate a representative from your group to take part in a telephone interview with Helen Kara after she has had all the other information from your group. The purpose of this interview will be threefold:
1. For Helen to ensure that she has full understanding of the work of your group and the issues faced in completing it.
2. To find out about the decision-making and commissioning processes used by your group.
3. To give you an opportunity to contribute any information that seems relevant from the perspective of your group but hasn't been covered by the other aspects of the evaluation.
Please don't forget to let Helen know who your nominated representative is!
If you have any questions about the evaluation, please feel free to contact Helen on the email address given, or to ask any member of the management group.
Thank you for your help.
